Tire Pressure Monitoring System
The Insight's Tire Pressure Monitoring System, or TPMS, warns the driver if a tire is significantly below recommended pressure levels. Pressure sensors within the valve stem of each tire transmit pressure readings to the system monitor. If the air pressure of any tire varies significantly below the recommended level, the system will alert you with a warning light on the dash (see Dashboard Details).
Please be aware that tire pressure fluctuates with the temperature – losing approximately 1 pound of pressure for every 10 degree drop and this may cause the system to alert you unexpectedly.
It's recommended that you check your tires at least once a month to maintain the optimum life. And be aware that the spare tire is not monitored by the TPMS, so you must always check its pressure manually.
