Rather than using a static table of time and mileage to keep track of maintenance, the Maintenance Minder system on Accord calculates service needs based on various indicators of vehicle wear. It checks engine operating conditions, such as weather extremes, stop-and-start traffic, frequent short trips and monitors oil life. It uses the Multi-Information Display (MID) to inform the driver when the vehicle will require maintenance. A Tire Pressure Monitoring System incorporates pressure sensors mounted on each wheel that send readings to a central electronic control unit. If a reading is approximately 25% below the recommended level, Accord will alert the driver through MID. The problem tire will be indicated, along with the individual pressure, for all four tires.
