Though the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has no fixed set of gear ratios like a conventional automatic transmission, Civic EX Coupe models and above are equipped with paddle shifters which allow you greater control of transmission operation. When the shift lever is in “D”, paddle shift changes will change the transmission ratio in the desired direction and the transmission will resume to automatic operation when steady speed is detected. When “S” is selected and a paddle shift has been engaged, the transmission will generally hold its ratio after a paddle operation until another paddle selection is made.
