How to Use the Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)

Your 2020 Honda Clarity helps look out for you! Its Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) System, available on select models, can identify lane markings and help prevent you from drifting off the road. The RDM alerts you by vibrating your steering wheel, to let you know that you've drifted too far—its torque will help steer you to the middle of the lane once again. The brakes can also be applied automatically, if necessary to keep you from leaving the road altogether.

Road Departure Mitigation only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position and/or brake pressure to slow the vehicle's departure from a detected lane. Road Departure Mitigation may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
